BAR CODE SCANNER USAGE:

Insert I-PAC into scanner sled.

Download SPS3000S-201.exe file from http://buck.doit.wisc.edu/tools/Bar_code_scanner/SPS3000S-201.exe

To install the SPS-3000 Scan Drivers Install Package, you need:

 * Windows NT 4.0 (or later.  Service Pack 5, recommended)

     or Windows 2000 (or later).

 * 2 MB disk space.

 * Microsoft ActiveSync 3.1 or higher

And run this file with the iPac in the cradle synced with your computer.

Follow the instruction, in the setup wizard.

This setup file installs 3 packages to the iPaq:

* Scanwedge
* Symbol Scanner App
* Symbol Scanner PocketPC Drivers

These files are installed to "\Program files\Scanner files". Contents:

- Scansamp2               a "diagnostic" and configuration tool.
- Scanwedge               The ubiquitous tool for non--developers.
- Trigger                 Works with scanwedge to launch a
                              scanner application.

Before you can start using the scanner; you have to perform a soft
reset to activate the driver, if not it will complain about "Cannot open scan
driver - error A000000A".  This can be done by pushing the reset button on the bottom left of the iPac.

After restarting you should notice the scanner folder in your programs folder. Go into this folder and double click the Scanwedge. This allows input from the scanner to be put directly into applications. The default trigger for the scanner will now be button 5. The button on the top left corner with the tape cassette icon on it. This setting can be changed in the settingsà buttons menu.

Try depressing this button, the laser scanner should be activated.  At this point the scanner can be used to input barcode data. You may use excel, word, or just about any application on your iPAC.
